10.08.08 Hellissandur – Stykkishólmur
by Garik and Lena
  • We woke up late this morning, Lena’s face was totally swollen, must be the sun from yesterday… I felt some skin peeling off my nose too. We ate breakfast in the hotel near the campsite, 900 ISK per person. It was ordinary food, bread, butter, cheese and sausages. The jewel in the crown was herring with mustard sauce… I’m kidding, it was disgusting! Read the rest of the entry »

09.08.08 Hellissandur
by Garik and Lena
  • We woke up this morning without an alarm clock, quite late. It was a bit chilly outside the tent. After a quick breakfast we read in the book that it is possible to see seals on the western cliffs of the peninsula somewhere near the Vatnsborg crater or something like that, so we decided to take a walk to the cliffs (something like 12 Km each direction). 08.08.08 Reykjavik – Arnarstapi – Hellissandur
by Garik and Lena
  • The rain didn’t stop this night. Lena waked me up at 0600 AM after she took a long hot shower earlier. We decided to pack out stuff and eat our breakfast on the bus to Olafsvik. Because of the rain it took us more then an hour to pack our stuff. We were afraid we’ll miss the bus from BSI station at 09:00 but we managed to catch the local bus #14 from the camp site to BSI station at 08:00! When we came to the bus station near the camp site we were the only people there, while I’m holding exact amount of money, 560 Kr. Then few couples have arrived and just before the bus came a bunch of young French students came, with huge backpacks and sacks in their hands, making it almost impossible to stand in the bus.
